EndSARSNow Protest In Enugu Turned Bloody As Five Persons Die And One Seriously Injured

Enugu youths deemed it rightly fit to rise up and vent their anger/displeasure over the blatant and unabated killing of Nigerian youths by the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), police brutality and bad governance, just like what obtains in other states of the country. These protest actions are most justified especially in Enugu    as being staged.

The protests were separately held in different areas of Enugu right from Abakpa in the morning hours to Holy Ghost roundabout from another group of protesters in the afternoon. The ones of Mayor, along Agbani road and New Market road with the group that held it's bit at Emene.

Family Writers Press International team of correspondents stationed at different locations within the city, took detailed developments as they unfolded. Obviously, the youths were simply re-echoing the same song of decency from the Nigerian government and it's security agencies, which is clearly known to the global community. Unfortunately, the Nigerian police particularly for whatever sinister agenda, chose to criminally employ the use of live bullets against unarmed, innocent and peaceful protesters.

It first started with the Abakpa group of protesters where the police divisional officers stationed there, bluntly shot two of the protesters dead in the morning hours of the protest. In the afternoon, the officers at Abakaliki road police station popularly known as "A.I. road police station", shot at the protesters, seriously injuring one Mr. Chidiebere on the leg. He is reportedly receiving treatment in the hospital. In the evening, same police officers (Mobile Unit), conveyed on two police vans equally staged an attack on the protesters at New Market roundabout and had one person shot dead. The protesting Nigerian youths in Enugu also lost one at Emene and Mayor road respectively in the hands of the police. Inspector Okolo carried out the killing of Mr. Emmanuel.

Some interviewed protesters pointedly called on the United Nations to expeditiously come to the aid of the Nigerian youths to forestall further deterioration of the situation.
