•Prof. George Obiozor Candidature A Constitutional Error

The National President of Ohanaeze Youth Council (OYC), Comrade Igboayaka O. Igboayaka, has lambasted Nnia Nwodo of his inability to uphold the Constitution of Ohanaeze Ndigbo as regards the forthcoming 2021 election.

Speaking to newsmen on Monday 30th, November in Owerri, Imo state capital, Igboayaka pointed out that Nnia Nwodo’s hasty plans in collaboration with the Southeast governors to install Prof. George Obiozor as next president-general of Ohanaeze has left him as a man of questionable character.

 He reminded that Prof. Ben Nwabueze who ruled Ohanaeze Ndigbo for 26 years as Secretary General warned against selling Ohanaeze Ndigbo to governors, stressing that it would be the doom of Ohanaeze and Ndigbo at large if such is allowed.

It’s regrettable that Nnia Nwodo in his insatiable political adventure have perfected plans to sell Ohanaeze Ndigbo to political profiteers.

He noted that Article 11 of the Constitution only empowers the president-general to summon the National Executive Committee(NEC), the Council of Elders, Ime Obi and General Assembly through the Secretary General, therefore, the meeting summoned by Nnia Nwodo were he asked governors to forward two names in each state out of three persons to setup electoral committee is unconstitutional.

Igboayaka added that the choreograph plan which Nnia Nwodo and Sen. Hope Uzodinma hatched to bring in Prof. George Obiozor is an insult to entire Igbo race and also a bridge of the Constitution Article 11 Chapter 15(b) which overruled consensus candidacy. This section of the Constitution made it open that, “the president-general shall be elected by the national general assembly from all interested candidates from the state whose turn it is to fill, provided there are at least three candidates.”

He noted that he read with dismay were Engr. Iwuanyanwu stated thus, “We will also set up guidelines indicating the qualifications, experiences, and pedigree of whoever can qualify to contest,” saying that unfortunately, Engr. Iwuanyanwu and cohorts goofed in this statement, because Article 11(Sec. b) spelt out the qualifications of the presidential candidate of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, therefore Engr. Iwuanyanwu and the illegal Elders Council lack the power to initiate guideline or new qualifications for office of president-general of Ohanaeze Ndigbo.

Igboayaka revealed that Article 10 (IV) did not recognize Elders Council as the electoral umpire, and queried were then did Engr. Iwuanyanwu and the so-called Elders Council got the power to set up guidelines for Ohanaeze Ndigbo election? 

He appealed to Ndigbo to remain calm that the news of Prof. George Obiozor’s emergence as the consensus candidate is a pure evidence of planned electoral fraud by Nnia Nwodo and Southeast governors and a caricature to the supremacy of Ohanaeze Ndigbo constitution.

Comrade Igboayaka warned Nnia Nwodo and the Southeast governors to retract their plans to pave way for peace or be ready to contend with Igbo youths whose future are in danger due to poor leadership and representative of so-called Igbo leaders that have dealt with Ndigbo since after the war.

Igbo youths are interested in Ohanaeze Ndigbo election unlike before, therefore over 15 million of unemployed Igbo youths will pour their last venom on the Southeast governors if they insist in appointing candidates to lead Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Igboayaka stated.
