Civil war may break out in Nigeria – Bamgbose warns Buhari
A senior lawyer and the National Coordinator, Concerned Advocates for Good Governance, CAGG, Olusegun Bamgbose, has warned that another civil war will break out in the country if care is not taken.
Bamgbose said Nigeria is currently being torn apart by the activities of kidnappers, bandits, ‘unknown gunmen’, Boko Haram terrorists among others.
He said Buhari must act fast and arrest the situation before it degenerates into a civil war, adding that Nigeria cannot survive another civil war.
He recalled that “Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe of blessed memory once said ‘To foresee danger and not to warn is the bane of old age’ It’s evident from the look of things that if care was not taken, another civil war can break out,”.
“One wonders what Buhari is still doing in the UK while Nigeria is burning.
“It’s time for him to return home and tackle the menace of insecurity before it gets out of hand. Criminals no longer respect our law enforcement agents.
“Just recently 11 soldiers were killed in Benue State. The Presidency has not been able to nip in the bud the activities of bandits, unknown gunmen and insurgents and kidnappers.
“How can the Commander in Chief of Armed Forces be in the UK taking a rest. This is absurd and abnormal.
“Buhari should cut short his trip to the UK and come back to Nigeria. Soldiers are absconding, some are resigning. Where are we really heading to?
“President Buhari should arrest the situation before it degenerates into a civil war. The truth is that, should there be any civil war, Nigeria may not survive. A stitch in time saves nine.”
