Are You For Or Against Nnamdi Kanu and Biafra Freedom?

The issues of whether Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB),  should be freed from the detention of the Nigerian Department of State Services (DSS) and whether Biafrans should be granted their demand for freedom, is one subject that different persons from different parts of Nigeria have shared divergent views on. However, it is very crucial to note that many take their sides on the matter ignorantly, not objectively analyzing the subject matter and letting their good understanding be their reason for the side they choose to take.

A fundamental guide to ensuring your correctness for whichever side you choose to take, is to ensure that it is in line with, or against the goals of the standard bearer, which is Nnamdi Kanu. Unfortunately, most people, especially those that claim to be in support of him, do not really understand his person, conception and passion, as to align their choices. Briefly, I will summarily outline the simple way Nnamdi Kanu conceives himself and his efforts to restore Biafra.

In an interview he granted Dele Momodu, the Chief Executive Officer and publisher of Ovation International in 2020, and in other several occasions, Kanu made it emphatically clear that he sees himself as a dead man already. He also sees Biafra restoration as the only thing that can bring him back to life. Which is why he greatly desires to see that Biafra is restored. This forms the basis why he is doing everything humanly possible to see such materialize in the shortest possible time, “…in our lifetime…” as he always says it. In line with these, he had to start a movement that he structured to remain incorruptible for the Biafra restoration project.

This movement is IPOB. The people have a very disciplined constitution that though does not guarantee the avoidance of unstable fellows in their midst at times, but guarantees them unapologetically, expelling such fellows and prioritizing on their leader’s goal. They never allow any corruption come near it.

Mazi Nnamdi Kanu himself obeys this constitution too and highly respects the persons he carefully chose to guide the standards of the constitution. These Biafran special breeds are the members of Directorate of States (DoS). These men and women have no fear for anyone. Their lives are of little or no importance to them when it comes to defending this constitution. Let me further remind us of how Nnamdi Kanu has boasted severally that nothing born of a woman can stop him from restoring Biafra. Now, do not think that he would have made such a boast if he does not know the structure he has put in place. He verily knows and trusts it to remain very strong for as long as the struggle lasts. And even his enemies and that of Biafra know too well about this structure.

And considering Kanu’s current incarceration by the Nigerian state, his life would have been snuffed out if not for the fear of this movement and her leadership. In this IPOB leadership, there are many individuals that are even more deadly than Nnamdi Kanu himself. So, the enemies have that fear that the worst thing than they are trying to stop might happen if Kanu’s life is toyed with. What they have chosen to do is to find ways to weaken those formidable men and women that are holding brief in the absence of Kanu. And once that is done, they will get rid of him and nothing will happen, thereby perpetually truncating the Biafra freedom quest. God forbid!

Therefore, going back to the main topic, you will clearly know that you are clearly against Kanu and Biafra, want him dead and the Biafra freedom talk forgotten, if you point accusing fingers at these standard bearers. I am not saying here that you may not have seen reasons to do so, because those persons are humans too and can falter. But the undebatable truth is that protecting this heartbeat of the IPOB leader, has remained their priority. And you should be wise and intelligent enough to jettison your grievances so as not to give Biafra enemies any inroad.

Again, it is only those that are against the freedom of Mazi Nnmadi Kanu and Biafrans by extension, that will keep deriving pleasure in fighting the leadership of IPOB. If you are in support of Kanu’s and Biafra's freedom but indulge in this, then note that you are simply living in terrible ignorance, because IPOB leaderships are the only ones that can make the freedom of Kanu and Biafra possible with time, not the misgivings on social media.
