Obi meets Afenifere leader, says "Nigeria is no longer in control of her territory"
The presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, on Tuesday met with the leader of the Afenifere group, Pa Ayo Adebanjo, at his residence in the Lekki area of Lagos alongside the South-South and Middle Belt delegates.
At the meeting, Obi said his mission was to save Nigeria.
He said, “We are selling a movement to save Nigeria that goes beyond Labour Party, otherwise, we might end up a refugee in our country if we don’t do the right thing.
“People complain that I like to mention problems Nigerians face, but I tell them that it is better to know where we are before proffering solutions to the problems in the country.
“Apart from Venezuela, Nigeria is the only oil producing state that is producing 800,000 barrels which is not up to its quarter of 1.8m.”
He added, “Nigeria is no longer in control of her territory as we rank high in banditry and terrorism and therefore, Nigeria has qualified for a failed state.
“The measure of a country is not by land or natural resources but by the productive capacity of the nation. Nigeria’s population is over 22 million people and the only way to fix dollar is to put this population into production.
“In your partnership and not support, we can decide to do the right thing together for the benefit of everyone. I humbly apply to be a member where we can dialogue together and always decide on how to make the country productive and effective.”
