BREAKING! Court Orders The Unconditional Release Of Mr Ikechukwu Henry, And Be Compensated With 100-Million Naira

The Federal High Court in Enugu state has delivered a judgement on 8th November 2022, over the fundamental rights prayer of Mr Ikechukwu Henry, filed by Barrister Nnaemeka Ejiofor, a lawyer to the Indigenous People Of Biafra(IPOB).

According to the information available to Family Writers Press International(FWPI), the court delivered its judgement on the basis that the continued detention of Mr Ikechukwu Henry since August 2021 till date by the Nigerian Army, without charging the responsible citizen to court or releasing him on bail is illegal, unlawful, oppressive and unconstitutional as it is a violation of Mr Henry's rights to fair hearing, dignity of human person, personal liberty and right to freedom of movement.

Recall that Ikechukwu Henry was illegally arrested on the 23rd of August, 2021, together with his wife, their four(4) months old baby and Henry's Landlady. They were detained in the military detention facility at 82 Division in Enugu, until 24th August same year when Henry's wife, Landlady and baby were released. But the military refused to release Henry since then, or charge him to court.

On hearing the Mr Henry's prayers, served by an IPOB lawyer, Barrister Nnaemeka on the Nigerian Army's  violation of Henry's rights, the Honourable Court ordered the Army to provide Henry before the Lordship and or release him unconditionally, forthwith. The judge also ordered that the Army must tender open apology to Mr Henry on two National Dailies and any other form of compensation that the court may deem fit to grant.
