 We Will Support And Prioritize Independence Of Emerging African Nations — Russia Federation

On a deeper dissection of the tweet made by Russian Embassy in South-Africa at exactly 11:02 am on 18th April 2023, the Russia Federation is boldly affirming to recognise Africa as a continent which possesses a unique and persuasive capacity of being "a centre of world development". The transcontinental country stated their intention to support sovereignty and independence keen African States, and that as a 'priority' on the road to achieving this overdue possibility. 

The relationship between Africa and the West(USA, UK and other European countries that engaged in slave trade) has been rooted in inequality, exploitation and genocide.

According to a central figure of modern African literature, Late Professor Chinua Achebe, "the Berlin conference was where the West certified their preference for treating Africa without respect in so many ways than can be itemised".

But for a record purpose, here Is a quick summary of the ominous gathering in Berlin, Germany, from 15 November 1884 to 26 February 1885: “They sought to discuss the partitioning of Africa, establishing rules to amicably divide resources among the Western countries at the expense of the African people. Of these fourteen nations at the Berlin Conference, France, Germany, Great Britain, and Portugal were the major players.”

The US and her allies masterminded the several coup d’etat and military invasion in Africa, including the killing of visionaries like Patrice Lumumba, in the most gruesome manner. Tagged Nelson Mandela a terrorist even though he killed nobody and, most recently, engaged in illegal kidnapping and torture of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People Of Biafra(IPOB).

Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and IPOB are asking for a referendum for the indigenous people of Biafra to determine whether or not they still want to remain in Nigeria. That is by all intent and purpose a legal and constitutional demand, yet he is being persecuted.

Hence, the statement by the Russia Federation through the official Twitter handle of Russia’s embassy in South Africa, saying that it will "support and prioritize Africans seeking independence", is a welcome development that should be more than mere rhetoric.

Earlier, the Russian foreign minister, Sergey Lavrov insisted that the arrogance of US and her allies is such that the world can no longer put up with the idea that the world should continue to live permanently according to American “rules.” These are rules the reflect the USA's desire to continue their colonial methods of living off others and eliminating competitors, he concluded.
