Petition To United Nations General Assembly On The Violation Of Universal Declaration Of Human Rights By Nigeria Government
With due respect and unreserved yearning, we humbly tender this petition to accentuate that the essence of the United Nations assembly which has protected human rights without boundaries from time of her institution be implemented on Biafra, a part of the world that has endured extinction and again at the verge of renewed extinction for anchoring on your esteemed 2007 DECLARATION ON THE RIGHTS OF INDIGEONOUS PEOPLE TO SELF-DETERMINATION, and which her leader's right has grossly been violated.
Biafra possesses no threat to human nature, humanity and human right. Biafra was made a specy of terror experiment since 1914. Biafra had endured pogroms before the 1967 genocide against them that was called BIAFRA VS NIGERIA WAR. And, it is crucial to bring to your notice that over 3.5million civilian Biafrans lost their lives whilst one-third of 30,000 of her soldiers lost their lives.
Up till date, Biafrans scattered all over the country called Nigeria and countries of the world due to marginalization of the Biafran land without measure, loose their lives uncountably. But we take notice of Biafrans in Nigeria. The sectional terror group called Boko Haram terrorizes Christians by virtue of the 1914 amalgamation of Muhammedian emirates of the North and the West with the Judeo-Christian East(Biafrans). The East have continously suffered 100% terror and are soft targets. Fulani herdsmen, Nigerian Joint Armed Forces are all being used against Biafrans.
In 1967, Biafrans attempted to be an independent nation, but was re-annexed after a brutal genocide that was adorned with conspiracy of silence. Within three years of the war; by virtue of war crimes, Biafrans lost over 3.5million lives as a result of land, sea and air blockade; whilst children perished by starvation, women, civilian men and refugee camps were the target objective of Nigerian soldiers.
Conquered, Biafrans were made slaves by conquest, marginalized and left under perpetual harsh economic and governmental policies even while the resource that sustains the economy of entire Nigeria belongs to them. All effort was to hamper their development, subjugate Biafrans and leave them out of trend in order to enslave them, exploit all they have and keep them down as their rise might resurgence independent state. Investigations have it that nothing at all has been addressed in their land and with immemorial absence of federal government in Biafra land nor observed as its federating unit.
This honorable world assembly; UNITED NATIONS, in 2007 launched- THE UNIVERSAL DECLARATION OF THE RIGHTS OF INDIGEONOUS PEOPLE. However, this right gave legal backing to all activities of Biafrans, So Biafrans tapped into this groundbreaking declaration, to pursue her independence afresh within the ambit of this law as proclaimed by UNITED NATIONS GENERAL ASSEMBLY IN 2007.
In 2009, the Indigenous People Of Biafra(IPOB), a Biafran self-determination movement was established by Nnamdi Kanu to pursue the self-determination of the people of Biafra as proclaimed by UNITED NATIONS. In 2015 IPOB was duly represented in the world convention of indigenous people, afterwards, Mr Nnamdi Kanu was officially certified the leader of IPOB
In keeping with the law, Radio Biafra was established in substitution of armament; for sensitization, debates and propagation of the Biafran cause, a sanctuary of freedom of speech and a banner of truth. Radio Biafra became Biafrans' voice and through the platform, our plight is communicated and reason for our independence also to the world at large.
On 15th of October, the leader of IPOB was arrested en route to Biafra land in his hotel room, detained and charged to court on criminal conspiracy, belonging to unlawful society and criminal intimidation. The court ordered his conditional bail which was met while his trial goes on. But, the Buhari-led Nigeria and her Department of State Security(DSS) disobeyed an order of a competent court of jurisdiction. Subsequently, Nnamdi Kanu was detained, tortured and subjected to degrading treatments in what they termed interrogation.
On the ruling of the magistrate court, it discharged and acquitted Nnamdi Kanu and high court which had ordered for Kanu's detention within 90days also ruled that he the litigant be unconditionally released. Against these three court orders, Nnamdi Kanu is yet being held in DSS detention facility.
On the maiden presidential media chat of the then President of federal republic of Nigeria, Muhammad Buhari, he established his stance on the contempt of court orders by DSS. He disappointedly reaffirmed and supported the act, noting that he cannot release Nnamdi Kanu for broadcasting on radio Biafra and for having dual citizenship passports; he alleged that these acts were atrocities that his government will not respect the order of the courts.
After a very longer time, the IPOB leader was release in April 2017 on bail, but while he enjoyed his freedom and was preparing for his court case in October of that year, the Nigerian combined forces invaded his country home at Afara-Ukwu Ibeku, Umuahia, Biafraland. This unlawful invasion led to the loss of over 28 supporters of Kanu, it also led to a complex disappearance of the IPOB leader, and the death of Kanu's both parents.
Fast-forwarding to 2021 after the IPOB leader reappeared at Israel in 2018 and continued his Pursuit for Biafra freedom. He was kidnapped in Kenya by the Nigerian Secret Forces in collaboration with their Kenyan counterparts in June 2021, tortured and extraordinarily renditioned to Nigeria. Kanu's has since been illegally detained with the Nigerian DSS, even after the United Nations Working Group on Arbitrary Detention ordered his freedom, and the Nigerian Appellate Court discharged and acquitted him.
By virtue acts, we cite THE UNIVERSAL DECLARATION OF HUMAN RIGHT AS PROCLAIMED BY THIS ESTEEMED ASSEMBLY in Paris on 10th December 1984. Furthermore, this admired assembly swore that this declaration shall be universally protected. This resolution 217A part states as follows:
Article 4= No one shall be held in slavery or servitude, slaves and the slave trade shall be prohibited in their forms.
Article5= No one shall be subjected to torture or to cruel inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment.
Article6= All are equal before the law and are entitled without any discrimination to equal protection of the law.
Article7= All are entitled to the equal protection against any discrimination in violation of this declaration and against any incitement to such discrimination.
In view of these and forthwith over Nigeria government's unethical confrontation on Biafrans and Nnamdi Kanu the leader of IPOB, we demand that this Government of Bola Ahmed Tinubu be called to order and compelled to obey court orders, mandated to free Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, other hundreds of Biafrans agitating for self-determination but are unlawful detained in several Nigerian detention facilities. Nigeria Government should be obliged to conduct a referendum in line with UNITED NATIONS approval to arrest the spilling of more Biafran blood.
We earnestly hope for a comforting response from this Honourable Assembly of United Nations.
