 Focus On Freedom Of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, Avoid Distractions --- Barr. Ejiofor Charges Kanu's Defence Counsel

After the unprecedented judgement delivered on 13 December 2023, the leadership of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, lost confidence in the Nigeria judiciary and subsequently withdrew from participation in the judicial charade, citing miscarriage of justice. That singular action affected some lawyers in the defense counsel including Barrister Ejiofor who is IPOB General/Lead Counsel since January 2016.

Barr. Ejiofor who, singlehandedly, secured the release of Onyendu Mazi Nnamdi Kanu in 2017, has in a press release on his social media handle admonished the team in charge of Onyendu Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s trial to remain focus. The press release made in the morning of 11 March 2024, and obtained by Family Writers made several clarifications. Barr. Ejiofor who recounted his journey from 2015 till date, his encountered challenges and the feats achieved for IPOB members illegally and extra judiciary persecuted by Nigeria government challenged anyone with evidence that he collects penny for services he renders to IPOB to come forward, insisting that he offers pro bono.

“It is time to move past blackmail, lies, and backstabbing and focus on the task at hand. I urge my colleagues leading the legal team and their handlers, to concentrate on the case and refrain from engaging in unnecessary blackmail against me and/or the erudite legal Silk – Prof. Mike Ozekhome, SAN. I hope that my colleagues will do all that is required of them to free Onyendu Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, a feat I single handedly achieved in 2017.  It is time for them to repeat this same feat in 2024. By providing this clarification, I hope those affected will reconsider their actions and refrain from continuing in their futile attempts at tarnishing my hard earned reputation with baseless accusations. Failure of which,  I might be compelled to make an exposé to Biafrans who deserve to know the truth.”

Recall that Nigeria Court of Appeals discharged and acquitted Mazi Nnamdi Kanu; the court also ordered that he can’t be tried in any Nigerian court because he was criminally abducted from Kenya in June 2021. However, the Nigeria Supreme Court reversed that judgement after finding government guilty of criminally kidnapping him, and instead of delivering a judgement of their own, sent the case back to a lower court. Knowing that the Nigeria judiciary is for the highest bidder and under the executive control, IPOB promptly withdrew from the circus insisting that the landmark judgement delivered by the brave Justices of the Appellate Court MUST be obeyed. Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is now being represented by lawyers chosen by his family and the circus continues. These are the people Barr. Ejiofor is advising to focus on the task and stop engaging in petty blackmail
