Finland: No Government Should Gullibly Associate the Noble Struggle for Biafra Emancipation with Terrorism
It is necessary to state unequivocally that Simon Ekpa is not, and has never been, a part of IPOB or the disciplined leadership of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu in the noble quest for Biafra’s restoration. Any attempt to conflate Ekpa’s lawless antics with IPOB or the legitimate aspirations of the Biafran people is a grave error that must be corrected.
The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), under the leadership of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, was built on the principles of peace, legality, and unwavering discipline. From its inception, IPOB has pursued the restoration of Biafra through lawful advocacy, education, and international diplomacy. Mazi Nnamdi Kanu made it abundantly clear that violence and lawlessness have no place in the Biafran struggle.
This is why IPOB has consistently emphasized peaceful demonstrations, open dialogue, and the use of legitimate legal avenues to press for self-determination. The movement’s focus has always been to show the world the injustice faced by the Biafran people without stooping to the tactics of lawlessness or violence.
Simon Ekpa, by his actions and words, has made it evident that he does not align with IPOB’s philosophy. He has never been an integral part of IPOB’s leadership, nor has he adhered to the movement’s strict code of conduct. Instead, he has chosen to project himself as a rogue actor, using the Biafran cause as a platform for personal notoriety and reckless activities.
Ekpa’s public acceptance of responsibility for acts of terror is the antithesis of everything IPOB stands for. While IPOB fights for justice and freedom through peaceful means, Ekpa’s actions have introduced chaos, undermining the credibility of the movement and endangering the lives of Biafrans.
The quest for Biafra’s self-determination is a universal right, recognized under international law. The Biafran people, like any other oppressed group, have the legitimate right to demand freedom from marginalization and systemic injustice. This right, however, must be exercised with dignity, discipline, and adherence to the rule of law—values that IPOB has always championed.
Simon Ekpa’s attempts to associate his lawlessness with the Biafran struggle are not only irresponsible but dangerous. His actions have given detractors an excuse to label the legitimate aspirations of Biafrans as terrorism. It is critical to dissociate IPOB and the Biafran movement from Ekpa’s destructive activities.
To protect the integrity of the Biafran struggle, the following must be clearly understood:
Simon Ekpa Does Not Represent IPOB: He is not part of IPOB’s leadership and does not speak for the movement or the Biafran people.
IPOB Condemns Lawlessness: The leadership of IPOB, under Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, has consistently denounced violence and terrorism.
Biafrans Must Stay United: The Biafran struggle is bigger than any individual. All genuine Biafrans must work together to uphold the principles of peace and legality that define the movement.
Simon Ekpa is a rogue actor whose actions are entirely at odds with the disciplined and peaceful philosophy of IPOB. He does not represent the Biafran people, and his reckless activities must not be mistaken for the noble quest for self-determination.
The Biafran struggle is a legitimate pursuit of justice and freedom. It cannot and will not be tarnished by the actions of individuals who choose lawlessness over principle. To the world, let this be clear: Simon Ekpa’s path is not Biafra’s path, and his actions do not reflect the aspirations of the Biafran people.
As Biafrans, we must remain united and vigilant, ensuring that the genuine cause for Biafra’s restoration is not overshadowed by the actions of those who have strayed from the noble vision set forth by Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. The quest for freedom will continue, unsullied and resolute.
