BREAKING: Edo State Governor Okpebholo Caves To Pressure Allocates 6 Billion To Compensate The North Over Mobbed Hunters Incident
The executive governor of Edo State, Gov. Monday Okpebholo has reportedly cave to pressure, and subtly made an official decision to compensate families of the 16 mobbed alleged northern hunters, with the sum of 6 billion Naira from the state coffers in order to daunce tension and threats from the north.
This was made known in a report obtained by Family Writers Press International, the governor has also reportedly profiled the vigilante group operatives who spearheaded and condoned the mob incident in Uromi, Edo State and handed them over to a secret delegates from the north as requested by northern political leaders.
Recall that few weeks ago, 16 alleged northern hunters reportedly transiting from Port Harcourt to Kano for the Salah festive event, were intercepted by a group of vigilante operatives at Uromi Edo State. The alleged hunters who were in possession of locally made firearms and ammunitions, were hitherto mistaken for the Fulani killer whom have been terrorizing the community and country.
Unfortunately, the northern hunters were mobbed before any identification process was made, by a combined team of angered residents as well as operatives from the vigilante group who intercepted them.
Subsequently, the northern leaders as well as populace have threatened to embark on an indiscriminate mob spree and campaign against unsuspecting members of southern residents living in the north, to avenge the death of the mobbed hunters of the Uromi incident.
Reports of few southern businessmen killed in some parts of the north have been recorded, with many of southerners living in the north revealing how they live in fear and tribulation of the unknown.
Security agencies have so far being grossly handicapped in deescalating tensions and prevailing on the north from making true on their threats against members of the southern community residing in the north.
Thus, in a bid to pacify the northern angry mob, Gov. Okpehebolo made the decision to compensate the families of the northern victims and throw the vigilante security operatives to the wolves as peace offerings in exchange for tranquility.
Notwithstanding, the victims of the Fulani herdsmen whose terror activities prompted the mob incident of the hunters whom were identified of having Hausa origin, were never been compensated nor were the Fulani killer herdsmen apprehended.
Infact, the risks of more coordinated attacks against the community and environs by the Fulani terrorists has heightened, following the disarming and subsequent arrests of the vigilante operatives by the state government and the Nigerian police.
